Skillshelf is a free library of ready-made skills for Claude. You can watch each one work and read every file in it before you download.
What a skill is
A skill is a small folder of instructions, with a SKILL.md file and sometimes a template or script, that teaches Claude how to do one job well: proofread an essay, plan a trip, write a SQL query. Claude reads each skill's description and uses the skill when your request matches.
How Skillshelf originals get on the shelf
- Every skill comes with a worked example: what someone typed, and what Claude returned using the skill.
- Skills don't make up facts about you. When they need details only you know, they leave a placeholder and ask.
- Every file is shown in full on the skill's page, so you can read it before installing anything.
Community skills
Alongside its originals, Skillshelf hosts open-source community skills, marked Community. They're copied unchanged from their source, shared under their original licenses, and each download includes its license file. They don't have a tested Skillshelf example yet. See Credits for every source and license.
